Community Care service
Practical help keeping your home safe, sound and easy to live in — from a loose rail or a blown light to essential repairs and light gardening.

Most people don't leave their home because of one big thing. It's an accumulation of small ones — the step that's come loose, the tap that won't turn off, the garden that's got away, the light globe nobody can safely reach.
Home maintenance is the unglamorous work that keeps a house liveable and safe. Getting it done promptly, by someone trustworthy who's been properly checked, is often what allows someone to keep living independently in the home they love.
Practical jobs around the house and yard, sized to what you actually need.
Dripping taps, sticking doors, loose handles, damaged flyscreens and the small fixes that never get done.
Smoke alarm batteries, hard-to-reach light globes, loose steps, trip hazards and unstable railings.
Essential garden upkeep — mowing, pruning and clearing — to keep paths clear and the yard manageable.
Gutter clearing, cleaning slippery paths and other seasonal jobs that reduce the risk of a fall.
Small practical changes that make getting in, out and around your home easier day to day.
Where a job needs a licensed trade, we source a quote and manage the work for you.
Maintenance keeps what you already have working safely. A home modification changes the home itself — a grab rail, a ramp, a step-free shower — and is usually recommended by an occupational therapist. Many people need a bit of both, and we can arrange either.

So the job is scoped correctly and nothing unsafe is missed.
For anything beyond a straightforward hourly job, you get the cost in writing first.
By our own team, or a police-checked contractor who meets our quality standards.
You should be safer and more comfortable than before — that's the test.
Home maintenance and gardening sit within the Everyday living category of Support at Home, which attracts a higher contribution than other categories — the government covers less of the cost for these services than for personal care or clinical care.
Labour is charged at an hourly rate, and materials or a specialist trade are quoted separately at the actual cost plus a service fee for arranging and managing the work. Every rate is published on our fees page, and you'll always have the price in writing before anything starts.
